Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 4, one of the most sold phones in India making it India’s favorite phone of last year as it is having such great specs at very affordable prices.
Since India is a huge market and Xiaomi is one the top smartphones brand company in India, its the time when they are launching its Redmi Note 5 and Remi Note 5 Pro in India. Though Redmi note 5 is basically an Indian variant of the Redmi 5 Plus that was earlier launched in China but Redmi Note 5 is getting its Global Launch from India only making Indians first to get their Hands on a Xiaomi Phone and here is what you all need to know about them-
Both the device comes with hybrid slots and MIUI 9.xx out of the box based on Android Nougat 7.1.2 out of the box. Fairly, a bit outdated version of Android but since it’s the latest offering from Xiaomi, the next MIUI update is confirmed.
The Redmi Note 5 is the same Redmi 5 Plus that we have already covered in the past; you can watch our review here. It comes with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 625 Chipset with a frequency of 2.0Ghz max with an Adreno 506 GPU. It has a 5.99-inch FHD+ 18:9 panel with screen dimensions of 2160×1080 and a screen resolution of 403ppi covered by a 2.5D glass. It comes in two variants i.e, 3/32 and 4/64.
The brightness can go up to 450nits and its one of the minor Xiaomi Phones to have On-screen keys as its having a 2:1 display. The rear camera is a 12MP shooter with a F/2.2 aperture and front camera of 5MP with a F/2.0 aperture with some AI beautifications mode and an LED Flash along with capabilities to record 1080p videos at 30fps. The battery is a descent massive 4000maH and is easily capable to push more than a day with the support of QC 2.0.
The Redmi Note 5 Pro seems an awesome device (at least on paper) with a design inspired by iPhone X. It packs a Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 636 chipset and the same Adreno 506 GPU with a maximum frequency of 1.8Ghz which is fairly better chipset than their own Snapdragon 630 in theory. Same as Redmi Note 5, it has a 5.99-inch FHD+ 18:9 panel with screen dimensions of 2160×1080 and a screen resolution of 403ppi covered by a 2.5D glass as well a 4000mAH battery with the support of QC 2.0. It also comes in two variants i.e, 4/64 and 6/64.
On the rear side, it has a dual camera setup becoming a direct competition to Xiaomi’s own Mi A1 Android One device. Its a 12MP(F/2.2 and 1.25 μm) + 5MP(F/2.0 and 1.12 μm) arrangement. That means this phone can also take Portrait shots. To the front, it has a whopping 20MP camera with F/2.0 aperture targeting some pre-existing selfie players in the market. Sadly, this phone also lacks fast charging support which is a bit downside from Xiaomi.
The Prices announced for Redmi Note 5 are 9,999rs (3/32 variant) and 11,999rs (4/64 variant). For the Redmi Note 5 Pro, its 13,999rs (4/64 variant) and 16,999 (6/64 variant) which is a very competitive pricing for a budget phone as compared to other brands. Since these devices are having such good specs overall, Custom ROM development should be great as far we have seen for the last year’s Redmi Note 4.

According to Mi website redmi note 5 pro has 20MP front camera with f/2.2 aperture, but you mentioned f/2.0 here, please review it.
Please use small ‘f’ to denote aperture, Capital ‘F’ uses for showing temperature in Fahrenheit.
