Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro vs Asus Zenfone Max M1 Which to Buy?

After using both the devices for at least 10 days as our primary device finally it’s time to compare both of them and decide which performs better in various scenarios.

Note: This article is purely based upon real day to day use and not just based on the specifications.

CAMERA:

Both mobiles have dual camera setup at the back and a single camera setup at the front, and has bokeh effect on both the sides.

Conclusion: If camera is your highest priority then don’t think twice stick to Redmi Note 5 Pro.

BATTERY:

Redmi Note 5 Pro has 4000mAh battery and Zenfone Max M1 has 5000mAh battery.

Conclusion: Both mobiles can easily get through a day with single charge but if you really want that extra 1000mAh battery then Zenfone Max M1 is the way to go.

DISPLAY:

Both mobiles have 1080p Full HD+ displays and viewing angles are great on both of them. The Zenfone Max M1 gets a little bit brighter. But it doesn’t mean Redmi Note 5 Pro has bad display it’s a tie between both.

 

BUILD QUALITY:

Conclusion: The design choice differs from person to person. But if you need that IR Blaster and gorilla glass protection then Redmi Note 5 pro is the way to go.

SOFTWARE:

The Redmi Note 5 Pro comes with MIUI 9 running on Android Nougat whereas the Zenfone Max M1 runs on stock Android Oreo.

But when it comes to performance the Redmi Note 5 Pro performs better in gaming and normal use due to the software optimizations but the performance of the Zenfone Max M1 can be better as software updates rolls out in the future.

But when it comes to customizations and installation of custom ROMS the Redmi Note 5 Pro is a must buy as there are tons of ROMS available online.

ACCESSIBILITY:

Both devices have Face Unlock and Fingerprint Unlock options but in terms of accuracy and speed the Redmi Note 5 Pro definitely takes a lead.

CONNECTIVITY:

The Redmi Note 5 Pro has a Hybrid slot which means we can either use 2 SIMs or a SIM and a Micro sdcard on the other hand the Zenfone Max M1 has 2 SIM slots and a dedicated Micro sdcard slot.

In the Zenfone Max M1 at a time dual 4G or 4G Volte can be used whereas on the Redmi Note 5 Pro it is possible only after the upcoming software update in installed.

Conclusion: If you really need a dedicated Micro sdcard slot then Zenfone Max M1 is the way to go.

FINAL VERDICT:

If you are on tight budget and planning to go with ₹11,000 Zenfone variant i.e.3GB RAM &32GB storage variant then go ahead without any doubt over the Honor 7x, 9lite and Redmi Note 5 and Redmi 5.

If you want to buy the 4GB Ram Variant then if you need good battery life and dedicated Micro sdcard slot and are ok with minor bugs then Zenfone Max M1 is the way to go. But if camera is all you need with good software optimizations and decent battery life then Redmi Note 5 Pro should be your choice.
